What is your name and job title?
Meg Buenting AV/VC Tech at TeamPeople.

How would you describe your job to someone outside of the industry? What do you do on a daily basis?
Help people with video conferencing and their audio-visual needs at the World Bank Group.

What is your favourite part of your job?
When it clicks for the client you are helping and they go from feeling nervous or confused to empowered by knowing and understanding more. You can hear it in their voices

What’s your greatest achievement or something you’re proud of from your career?
My proudest accomplishment is that I’ve made it as far as I have. In the summer of 98 I was an intern in Manhattan at CBS radio. Since then, I worked in nationally syndicated radio, Nashville recording studio, and before joining Team People I was an audio engineer for network television at CBS New. Coming to Team People and the World Bank has given me yet another way to continue my growth and expand my knowledge base

What’s the coolest experience you’ve had in your career?
I wouldn’t say as much as 1 experience as much as a general fact that my career has allowed me to be around sooo many bigger than life people is pretty cool. From politicians like Jimmy Carter and G Gordan Liddy to activists like Gloria Steinman to celebrities like Taylor Swift.

How has the industry changed since you started?
When I was starting out a lot of equipment was still analog the digital age was starting but just in it’s infancy vs today, everything is digital

What advice do you have for someone new to the industry?
Never turn down help or advice. If someone more experience is willing to spend their valuable time sharing their knowledge, embrace it…you never know when it will come in handy

What soft and hard skills should someone in your field have?
Hard skill-know your signal flow-doesn’t matter how simple or complex the equipment you are dealing with know the starting point and end point and each stop in between. Soft skill-Grow a thick skin-Feel all the feelings you need to about any given situation just don’t do it in front of clients or co-workers be professional

Who inspires you? Is there a quote that motivates you?
Both my parents inspire me-they both have very different work styles but have very strong work ethics. Quote-If it doesn’t scare you a little it’s not worth doing”

Tell us something that people don’t know about you?
If I could do anything else as a career I’d be a Fashion Stylist-It’s like playing dress up on other people.
